Ambassador Agyekum Present Credentials To President Calderon

Of Mexico

His Excellency Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum, Ghana’s Ambassador of the United States presented the Letters accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to the United Mexico States to President Felipe Calderon, in Mexican City on January 20, 2011.

The colorful and remarkable presentation ceremony, held in the Ceremonial Hall of National Palace, was unique and exceptional, being the first time that as many as thirty-two (32) resident and non-resident Ambassadors accredited to Mexico had been assembled at such a joint Ceremony, to present their Letters of Credence to President Calderon.

Ambassador Agyekum, conveyed warm and fraternal greetings from His Excellency President John Evans Atta-Mills , the Government and the people of Ghana to President Calderon personally, his family and to the Government and people of the United Mexican States. He stated that Ghana and Mexico have maintained cordial relations since Ghana attained Independence, indicating that successive years have witnessed the strengthening of the bonds of friendship between the two countries, notably, a common heritage consolidated through the membership of the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.

He further expressed Ghana’s appreciation for the strong productive partnership, which is buttressed by the shared democratic values and principles, and the desire to advance the horizons of our people.

President Calderon on his part extended warm greetings to His Excellency President John Evans Atta-Mills personally and to the Government and people of Ghana. He also expressed appreciation for Ghana’s political dispensation and observed that the ties between Mexico and Ghana remained strong.
