Investigations by The Herald Newspaper into the background of the lady at the centre of ex-Minister of Ports, Harbours and Railways Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi’s adulterous affair, have revealed her to be a con girl and a dangerous fellow, and exposed the 65-years-old ex-minister as a blind lover.

Miss Gertrude Fitnat Selasi Bedzo has been known by close associates to be a vicious materialist who would do anything, to get what she wants. Apart from her intimate affair with the ex-minister, she was also involved with an ex-Director General of Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Following the denial of the ex-minister and current Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi of his steamy sexual affair with the lady which has scandalized him in the US$86,500 fraud case, this paper has gathered more information which reveals Selasi Bedzo is also deeply involved in a car stealing syndicate operating between Ghana and Canada.

The 30-year-old Selasi uses senior Ghanaian officials to clear her cars, and is said to be on the radar of the Canadian Security authorities while an Accra Circuit Court, presided over by His Lordship, C.A. Wilson, has also issued a bench warrant for her arrest.

This paper also discovered inconsistencies in the ex-minister’s denial of the story as carried in The Daily Searchlight newspaper of Tuesday July 27, 2010.

According to The Herald’s findings, Miss. Gertrude Fitnat Selasie Bedzo hails from Bedzokope near Live in the Akatsi District of the Volta Region. Her mother’s name is Faustina Bukari Memuna who used to run a popular drinking sport in Akatsi called Jolibebe, which is no longer in operation as a result of a protracted family dispute.

The father, who Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi claimed to be a friend of his and a car dealer, is not called Mr. Timeleon, but rather Mr. Emmanuel Kumah Bedzo. He is a former employee of Ghana Tobacco Company and later worked with the now defunct States Farms at Yaluvi, a suburb of Akatsi.

Mr. Emmanuel Kumah Bedzo, not Mr. Timeleon was posted in and out of Akatsi, to Kpando and Accra at various times when he served the two institutions. He is a well-known self-proclaimed businessman at Akatsi. He drives a brown Chevrolet car with a registration number GR1206Y, said to have been given him by his daughter, Selasi.

Mr. Kumah Bedzo is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akatsi, whiles his ex-wife, Faustina Bukari Memuna; Selasi’s mother is a prominent member of the ruling party the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Gertrude Bedzo is considered the black sheep of the family and has always been at loggerheads with her mother. She is however her Daddy’s favourite child. It is not clear whether wealth, which she got through doubtful means, is partly responsible for the deep affection her father has for her, since it is rumoured that she ‘settles’ her father generously.

Further investigations revealed that her parents separated many years ago, having had two children from their union, a boy called Mr. Hope Bedzo, who is domiciled in London and considered by many to be respectful and cool headed, and his younger sister, Selasi is just the direct opposite. Hope is presently on holidays in Ghana, The Herald learnt.

Selasi’s birthday parties are always “talk of the town” as they are attended by the crème de la crème in society.

Long before her meeting the ex-minister, she had been impregnated by a Togolese national while in Abidjan- Cote d’Ivore, with an Aunt called Adiza Bukari, and later got engaged to the man who used to be a cook at the Canadian embassy in Abidjan, and they later sojourn to Canada, but incessant quarrels led to the dissolution of the marriage. The man was later jailed and subsequently deported to Togo. Their marriage was blessed with a baby girl called Abel, who is now nine years of age.

While dating Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi, she was also seeing a certain Mark, described only as a businessman, and any time the ex-minister sneaked into her three bedroom apartment off the Spintex Road under the cover of darkness, poor Mark is pushed into one of the bedrooms and hidden there until the minister sneaked out.

The Zoology Professor did not know about baby Abel either as she was also hidden from him in another rooms in the house under lock and key. Unconfirmed reports suggest the house was purchased for her by the ex-minister.

Due to her years in Abidjan and her sneaky nature, she speaks impeccable French, and this she used to deceive the ex-minister into believing she hails from Ivory Coast. Indeed, as reported in The Daily Searchlight Newspaper, the ex-minister knows only her as Chantel Timeleon, and not Gertrude Fitnat Selasie Bedzo from Akatsi in the Volta Region of the Republic of Ghana.

She has been telling close friends that Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi’s wife had been involved in a car accident and is wheelchair ridden, hence the minister relies on her for his sexual gratification.

Our checks have further revealed that apart from using Selasi Gertrude Fitnat Bedzo, she also uses Stella Fergusson in her Canadian driver’s license. Indeed, Kojo Amoakohene, the US$86,500 fraud victim, told The Herald that Selasi once directed him to send her money through Western Union, using the name Stella Fergusson, and this was done accordingly.

On the famous social network, face book she is sometimes known as Selasi Bed-Ampofo and other times referred to as Chantel Timeleon.

She recently got married to one Charles Kofi who works with a reputable bank in Accra.

Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi in an interview with last Tuesday’s edition of The Searchlight newspaper, falsely claimed that “The Lexus, Miss Bedzo was driving on the day she was arrested, was bought from Mr. Timeleon” and said “I still haven’t finished paying for it”, adding anytime, Mr. Timeleon comes to Ghana, he drives in his (Ameyaw Akumfi’s) car.

The name Mr. Timeleon was fed the ex-minister by Selasi as name of her father. The claim of the NPP MP that Mr. Timeleon lives abroad and sells cars is also false.

Indeed, when she was arrested, her biological father Mr. Emmanuel Kumah Bedzo was the first person to dash from Akatsi to the La Police Station-Accra to secure a bail for her, but he unceremoniously abandoned her after getting to know the reason for her arrest. Mr. Bedzo and his daughter communicated in Ewe language.
