General and Advance Business Certificate Examination results are out

Accra, Feb. 04, GNA - The West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Monday, announced the release of provisional results of the October/November 2007 General and Advanced Business Certificate Examination.

A statement signed by Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, Senior Public Affairs Officer said the result lists for school candidates had been sent to their schools, while individual Statements of results for private candidates were being mailed to addresses provided by the candidates.

The Council said candidates may also access their results online from Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

According to WAEC a total of 75 and 716 candidates sat for the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE), Advance Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) respectively.

The statement explained that the General and Advanced Business Certificate Examinations, formerly the RSA Stage II and III, were available to both private candidates and candidates in approved private institutions on either single subjects or group entry basis. It said the GBCE was equivalent to the West African Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (WASSCE), while the ABCE could lead to the award of a Diploma.

It further explained that holders of the GBCE could also further their studies to the ABCE level and also gain entry to tertiary institutions, while holders of a Diploma at the ABCE have job prospects in the industrial, commercial, banking and finance as well as other sectors of the economy.
