Miss Ghana ?06 Train Takes Off

The search for Miss Ghana 2006 began on Saturday April 1, at the plush Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, where scores of beauties thronged the venue for a slot in the final.

According to the organisers, Sparrow Productions Limited, this year the zonal screening and selection events will not be held as stage shows. This, they said, will offer them more time to select and screen more ladies and get the best for the grand finale.

The selection exercise will be held in three zones ? Accra, Cape Coast and Kumasi ? where a total of 20 finalists will be selected for the grand finale.

During the Accra selection exercise, 25 ladies were picked for further screening. At 10:00am today, Saturday, April 8, ladies in the Central and Western Regions will have their turns when the selection team moves to the Cape Coast Hotel, Central Region.

The team moves to the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi next Saturday, April 15, to choose contestants from the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo Region and the three northern regions of the country.

A fresh Rover Saloon car is up for grabs this year and next year, when the pageant will celebrate 50 years of Ghanaian beauty, the top prize will be a brand new Jaguar.

This year's event is being sponsored by LG Electronics, Orca Decor, tigo, MG Rover-Ghana, Rhinos Energy Drink, Maxim hair products, GTV and supported by Astraeus, Unique Trust and Joy FM.
