President Akufo-Addo has pledged the commitment of his administration to provide all the necessary logistics to the Ghana Navy for them to effectively protect the country's oil fields in the Western Region.

He said that Ghana's oil fields are dear to the heart of the country, as well as his administration, and, therefore, would do everything possible to protect them.

The President gave this assurance on Friday, after reviewing a Graduation Parade of the Ghana Military Academy (GMA), where he commissioned 138 cadets of the institution into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

As part of his government's effort to protect the country's oil fields, President Akufo-Addo revealed that the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has made arrangement to supply six patrol boats to the Navy to enable them patrol and secure the country's oil fields and exclusive economic zones.

He added that government had also signed a contract for the construction of a Forward Operating Base at Nzulenzu, in the Western, for the the oil resources.
