Unemployed sentenced for theft

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court has sentenced an unemployed man to three years imprisonment in hard labour, for stealing an electric motor worth GH?2,500.00.

Kofi Bobson, 29, pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.

The prosecution said a senior security officer, Mr Alex K. Asiedu, at the Akim Oda Sawmill Company Limited is the complainant and Kofi also lives at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality.

The company has of late been detecting theft from its yard, and on September 3, last year, while the complainant and other security officers were at post, they spotted Kofi carrying something in a sack and running away.

The prosecution stated that the security officers managed to arrest the convict and handed him over to the police, adding that when the sack was opened, the company’s electric motor was found.
