Two suspected armed robbers arrested on School compound

Sege, July 19, GNA - The vigilance of Samuel Apezuke, a watchman of the Ada Senior High Secondary Technical School at Sege has led to the arrest of two suspected armed robbers of Fulani extraction on the School’s campus.

The suspects have since been handed over to the local police.

Mr Obodai Torgbor, Headmaster of the school, told the GNA in an interview that at about 0400 hours on Tuesday the watchman spotted the suspects, wearing khaki trousers, lurking on the compound.

He said the watchman initially that they were students running away from the school and so called them back.

Mr Torgbor said the suspects then took to their heels but the watchman, using his bicycle, gave them a hot chase.

He said the robbers ran into a nearby bush and in the process a polythene bag for one of them fell down and when the watchman took it he found a locally made pistol and ammunition in it.

Mr Torgbor said the watchman returned to the school and mobilized the students who arrested the elder one, about 24 years, in the bush.

The other robber, about 18 years, was later arrested in a pond and both of them were escorted to the school and later handed over to the Police.

The school is in the Dangbe East District of the Greater Accra Region.

The police, when contacted, confirmed the story and said the matter was under investigations after which the suspects would be charged and put before Court.
