President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has charged Former President John Dramani Mahama to endeavour to be truthful and stop lying to the people of Ghana over his claim of massively improving road networks in the country while in office.

The President was addressing students and staff of the Bolgatanga Senior High School in the Upper East region as part of his two-day tour of the region covered by MyNewsGh.com.

According to him, the much-touted achievement by the John Mahama led administration on the construction of roads which was said to be unprecedented, was never the case.

“What we are trying to do in this two and half years that we have been in office is to lay the foundation for the future of our country. We are laying the foundation in our physical infrastructure, the roads that were supposed to have been done but have not been done, we now have to tackle them. I don’t know whether you remember in 2016 we were told that the then President had been responsible for unprecedented road infrastructure in our country. My big mouth, I opened my mouth to say that Mr President am travelling around the country and I don’t see these infrastructures. He said I was asleep in the back of my car when am travelling around the country that’s why I don’t see the infrastructure. Yet since I came to power, everywhere I go that is the first thing the people are asking me [our roads, our roads]. If the roads had been done, would they be asking for that? They were not done” he said.

He further charged politicians including the former President to endeavour to tell the truth to Ghanaians.

“We politicians, we should tell the truth to the people and not lie to Ghanaians,” he added amidst cheers from the students.
