Stop being late - Roads Minister

Roads and Highways Minister Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani has warned public servants who have the penchant of attending public functions late to put a stop to it.

He said public servants waste too much time during public functions which is a major source of worry to all.

Alhaji Sulemani made the statement at a short ceremony in Wa to hand over a new office to the new Regional Minister, Bede Ziedeng.

The ceremony which was scheduled to start at 9am was delayed for some 30 minutes due to the late arrival of some of dignitaries.

"The state empowers us not to be late for anything? We have water, electricity free, lorry free and fuel free. You have no reason to be late for anything.

"We are in a privilege position, let's ensure that we show leadership in order to ameliorate the suffering of our people, " he charged.

Alhaji Sulemani said the enemies of the Upper West Region are poverty, ignorance and disease and called for support for the new regional minister to succeed.

"This enemy of the region is no respecter of any regime and does not respect any regime change in the governance system of the country", he pointed out, stressing, It makes it imperative for all to ensure that there is sustainable food for all.

The Road and Highways minister also used the opportunity to call on the media in the region to concentrate on the common problems of society such as environmental degradation, poor sanitation.

He however thanked the media for their support during his tenure as Regional Minister.

He also thanked the people of the region for the support given him to man the affairs of the region promising that he will not turn his back on them.

The new Regional minister debunked assertions that his appointment and that of the out-gone minister was recycling.

He called for the continued support of stakeholders to help raise the standard of living of people in the region.
