School Block Collapses In Donwpour

Adzikame (V/R), June 23, - The Adzikame Roman Catholic Primary School in the Akatsi District is among a number of structures destroyed during a downpour which lasted more than 24 hours at the weekend. The six-classroomed mud building collapsed and smashed chairs and tables of pupils and teachers. As a result, classes are now being held under trees and in the open for more than 200 pupils without any furniture. Conducting the Ghana News Agency round, the headteacher, Mr A.A.K. Kuagbenu, accompanied by the assemblyman, Mr Francis Agbanu, said the school which was established in 1942 is one of the oldest in the Avenor Traditional Area. They appealed to the District Education Office and the Akatsi district assembly and philanthropists to come to the aid of the school.
