Retired teacher defiles 11-year-old girl

Mpraeso (E/R), Aug. 25, GNA - A Circuit Court at Mpraeso presided over by Mr Kwaku Osei has remanded a 63-year-old retired teacher into Police custody for defiling 11-year-old class four pupil at Oworopong near Kwahu Tafo.

The retired teacher, Peter Tutu, pleaded not guilty to the charge. He would reappear before the court on September 09.

Prosecuting, Detective Police Inspector Christian Apronti told the court that both Tutu and the victim live in the same community.

He said in August 2010, Tutu saw the girl and invited her under the pretext of sending her to go and buy something for him. When the victim went, Tutu lured her into his kiosk and sexually assaulted her.

Prosecution said few days later the victim felt sick and when questioned by her aunty, she narrated the ordeal that Tutu put her through.

The aunty later informed the father of the victim and he intent informed the Chief of the community and when confronted, Tutu denied the offence but later accepted it.

An official complaint was then made to the Kwahu Tafo Police where Tutu was arrested.

The prosecutor said the victim was issued with a medical form to attend hospital for medical examination. The examination later confirmed the defilement.

He said initially Tutu denied the offence in his caution statement and told the Police that he was impotent but when a medical examination was conducted on him at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, it was detected that he rather has low sperm count.

Detective Police Inspector Apronti said the docket was sent to the Attorney General’s Department for advice and later instructed that the Police should charge Tutu with defilement.
