Rawlings has lost control of NDC – Ephson

Jerry John RawlingsJerry John Rawlings

Even though former President Rawlings has been a real pillar within the ruling National Democratic Congress in the past, the emerging forces in the NDC now have rendered the ex-military leader powerless within the party, Pollster Ben Ephson has said.

He said his gravitas has waned in the party unlike what prevailed some years back, which he claimed should be enough reasons for him to advise himself.

“The party has grown bigger than him, and he’s lost control over the party because there are other new forces emerging in the party,” Ephson argued in an interaction with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

The founder of the party, in a latest interview with GHONE TV, emphasised that the NDC would have been languishing in opposition if Professor JEA Mills had not died.

This is the umpteenth time Mr. Rawlings is stating this position albeit the backlash that has come with it.

But Ephson has taken a swipe at Rawlings for his repeated attacks on late Prof. Mills, describing as needless the comments made by him.

Commenting on the issue, Ephson said, J.J will be the least for the late Professor Mills to miss in eternity, among the NDC fold.

The late professor, who fell out with his former boss, died in July 2012 when Ghana was preparing for a parliamentary and presidential elections. He was replaced by his Vice, John Mahama, who led the NDC into victory in the general elections.
