Queemother and four others charged for abetment of crime

Akim Aboabohemaa, Nana Owusuaa Akoto IV, 62 years, and four others have been granted bail in the total sum of GH¢10,000.00 for abetment of crime by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court.

They will re-appear on February 26, 2013.

The four others are Paulina Buruwa, 49; George Kwadjo Asare, 49; Yaa Pokuaa, 38; and Yaw Shien, 46, all from Akim Aboabo near Akim Oda with the exception of Yaw Shien, who hails from Akim Asene, but based at Akim Oda.

They pleaded not guilty and each granted GH¢2,000.00 bail with one surety.

Prosecuting, Inspector Wilberforce Kwaku Appiah told the court presided over by Mr Yaw Attah Sampong that the Queenmother, Nana Owusuaa Akoto was bonded by Akim Oda Magistrate Court in May 2012 for six months to be of a good behaviour and keep peace at Aboabo in a chieftaincy dispute.

He said the queen mother failed to comply with the court order and conspired with the four other accused persons and unlawfully entered into the Aboabo Ahemfie at Akwasidae festival and assaulted the accredited Chief Nana Ampomah Kubrah Yeboah III and his wife, Madam Moureen Akosua Adomaa, causing the woman to have a miscarriage.

According to Inspector Appiah, a report was made to the Police and upon investigation the accused persons were arrested and charged with the offence.
