Members of the presidential press corps were at the premises of Ghanaian Times newspaper on Monday, August 24 to sign a book of condolence opened for the late Samuel Nuamah.

Nuamah lost his life after a tragic accident involving a mini-bus carrying members of the corps on the Shai Hills stretch of the Accra-Ho road last Thursday.

Members have been devastated by the passing of their colleague and Monday’s gesture was to offer solidarity with Ghanaian Times, for whom Nuamah worked from the presidency.

Addressing the members of the corps, Managing Director of Ghanaian Times Carol Annang encouraged them to pursue a collective interest that will champion their welfare though they worked for different media organizations.

“We are in the same industry and, therefore,, we should use this [tragedy] as a point of rallying together to ensure that something like this does not happen.”

Members expressed worry about the wanton use of pictures of their departed colleague in reporting stories about his death.

Separately, government paid a courtesy call on the family of the late journalist over the weekend and promised to liaise with Ghanaian Times to take care of funeral costs.
