President Kufuor leaves for UK

Accra, May 4, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra Sunday evening for London, United Kingdom, to attend a conference on Public/Private sector co-operation for the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The conference is an initiative of the British Government and would be chaired by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

A release signed by Andrew Awuni, Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesperson, said the conference was intended to elicit the support of the private sector to achieve the MDGs as fears continued to mount that many countries were not likely to meet the MDGs target in 2015.

It said Ghana and Rwanda, considered to be the best performers on the continent so far, were expected to share their experiences at the conference dubbed "Business Call to Action."

President Kuffour would address the conference on the role of the Private Sector in meeting the MDGs targets.

At the airport to see him off were Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the Vice President, Ministers of State, Major General Odoi Teye, Army Chief of Staff, Mr. Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong, Inspector General of Police and other senior military and police personnel.
