Police nab father for defiling his 14-year-old daughter

The Police at Agona Swedru have arrested Evans Acquah, a 40-year-old father for defiling his 14-year-old Primary Six daughter.

Acquah, who sells boards at Agona Swedru Sawmills, was picked up by the police last Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 when the victim’s mother detected unusual behaviour on the girl.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Kennedy Adusei, Agona Swedru Divisional Crime Officer, made this known to the press at Agona Swedru.

According to DSP Adusei, Acquah had divorced the victim’s mother. He said Acquah, also known as Nana Acquah, was said to have invited his daughter who was staying with somebody in his town to his house to collect some items he had bought for her and some money.

DSP Adusei said as soon as the victim entered her father's house, Acquah sexually assaulted her and warned her not to tell anyone, else she would die.

The Crime Officer said when the mother of the victim detected that her daughter could not walk properly, she confronted the girl who then confessed that her father had sexual intercourse with her about one month ago.

DSP Adusei said the girl was admitted at Agona Swedru government hospital for about five days, and medical checks proved that she had been defiled.

The DSP said the suspect had been placed in police custody at Agona Swedru, and would be put before the Agona Swedru Circuit Court.
