Okyenhene For Court

The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin and the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council, Ofori Panin Fie have been sued by the Head of Adansi Afoakwa, Nana Adukuruwaa and Aduana Royal lineage of Nkronso Opanin Kwasi Boafo.

He is asking the Koforidua High Court to grant an order restraining the Okyenhene and the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council from placing a permanent banishment, traditionally called Wiemtuo on Adansi Afoakwa, Nana Adukuruwaa and the Aduana Royal lineage of Nkronso. Opanin Boafo is also asking for an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the Okyenhene and the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council, the Kingmakers of Nkronso from nominating a new chief for Nkronso until the case is determined by the court.

Opanin Kwasi Boafo said the Aduana Royal family in Nkronso has four clan namely Nana Adansi Afoakwa, Nana Kwame Ampofo, Nana Agyebinti Dadeako and Amankwa Pam.The decision to nominate and install a new chief in Nkronso who is from the Amankwa Pam family without their participation is not customary of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional inheritance.

He said all effort to resolve the matter through the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council has failed. Opanin Kwasi Boafo said his decision to grant an interview to PeaceFM over the Nkronso situation and his criticism of the alleged interference by the Okyenhene has resulted in his banishment by the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council and is asking the Court to overturn the decision.

The traditional banishment of the Adansi Afoakwa Adukuruwaa lineage means they can never ascend to the Nkronso Stool, they cannot attend any funeral in Nkronso and nobody in Nkronso will attend their funeral or have any dealings with them. The case is set for hearing at Koforidua High Court next Monday 4th September 2006.
