Nana desperate because this is his last chance - Ofosu Ampofo

First Vice National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo says Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo's "1-factory 1-district" promise to Ghanaians is an indication of his "desperation for power".

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo cast doubts over the possibility of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer's ability to establish a factory each in every district in the country.

Nana Addo noted that as part of plans to industrialise and transform the economy, his administration will ensure that all the 216 districts across the country have factories.

He made this commitment while on a 5-day tour to some constituencies in the Central Region.

Nana Addo further added that the establishment of the factories is also aimed at creating thousands of jobs for the Ghanaian youth.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo pooh-poohed on the promise; claiming the NPP Flagbearer failed to set up any developmental projects in the Akyem Abuakwa Constituency during his 12-year tenure as a Member of Parliament.

To him, the NPP flagbearer cannot be trusted to build factories in every district when he has shown a high level of incompetence as an MP, stressing that Nana Addo is just promising Ghanaians even though he has no feasible plans to bring his promises to fruition.

“What is the feasibility plan? What are the endowments in those districts? What has he done...If you want to come out and make these pronouncements, you must come out and tell us how you’re going to achieve those things…Nana Akufo-Addo, I have seen that he has become very desperate because in the first place he feels that even in the NPP, this is his last opportunity. Even considering his age and everything, this is his last. So, he’s just promising. How can you just promise like that?"
