NPP Streets Ahead Of NDC & Co -Boakye Djan

Osahene Kojo Boakye Djan, Deputy Chairman and official Spokesman of the erstwhile Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), has expressed dismay at what he perceives as the ?non-issues campaign? being waged by the parties opposition to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP)

?I am disappointed by the posturing of the parties in opposition. It looks to me that they take their mantle of opposition so seriously that they have devoted all their resources in opposing everything the incumbency has done, is doing or is planning to do even in cases where they stand to gain the most?, Boakye Djan said in response to a question posed to him in an interview conducted on Sunday March 28, 2004 few hours before he left for the United Kingdom.

He had been asked to assess the conduct and performance of the Ghanaian opposition against the backdrop of that of the ruling NPP and attempt a prediction of the outcome of Election 2004.

When reminded that the opposition parties were doing what they thought would enable them to win power, the retired army major who seized the opportunity of his latest visit home to register as a voter, equipped: It appears to me that they are rooted in negative politics of that of the incumbency and in its activities. The indicators for ?feel good factor? are: personal security, security of job and income to consumer boom and united confident party and its confident outlook that translate directly to the people, he added.
