Joseph Mensah, a disqualified parliamentary aspirant, who has entangled and strangled the New Patriotic Party with a court suit for over a year now, is reportedly working under the influence of NDC to go in as independent candidate if the court ruling does not favour him. The ruling is due to come out on Friday, 23rd of September, 2016.

Our sources within the NDC has hinted that Mr. Mensah has full support of the ruling party and that, he has been sent huge amount of money and has been promised even more if he contests as independent candidate against the NPP candidate to pave way for NDC to win the Kwesimintsim parliamentary seat.

Joseph Mensah has also been allowed by the NDC government to use a government vehicle, GV 633-14, belonging to the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority for his political activities including attending the High Court against the NPP in Accra.

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, vice chairman and director for elections of the NDC is the chairman of the board of directors of the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority.

It is a fact that by dragging NPP to court for over one year, Joseph Mensah has delayed and frustrated the party in choosing and filing a candidate for the upcoming general elections. Thus, if Joseph Mensah goes ahead to contest as independent candidate after the court ruling, it then becomes more obvious that Joseph Mensah's intention to drag NPP to court was not about his qualification or disqualification. His intention then is only to divide and destroy NPP in order to help NDC win the seat.

As it stands now, NPP has no parliamentary candidate for Kwesimintsim constituency barely two months to an election, and the party cannot also campaign because of the injunction brought upon NPP by Joseph Mensah. The absence of candidate and campaign in the constituency has given a field day to NDC to operate while it hurts NPP and Nana Addo's chances to victory in 2016 elections.

Meanwhile, all attempts by NPP executives and party elders to get Joseph Mensah to back out from the idea of going independent have gone futile.
Worse of all, when the presidential candidate of the NPP for election 2016, Nana Akufo-Addo himself called and advised Joseph Mensah in his house, but he wouldn't heed to Nana Addo's advice.

Barely two weeks ago, Nana Addo with so much concern once more called and advised Joseph Mensah to withdraw the case in his office at Ringway Estate. Present were Sophia Honer Sam, Prof Ameyaw Ekumfi, the regional chairman, secretary of the NPP in the Western Region and Abena Kwala, but again Joseph Mensah snubbed Nana Addo with inexcusable disregard.

Joseph Mensah clearly has no good intention for Kwesimintsim NPP, and thus, he will work hand in hand to make sure Nana Addo and NPP do not see victory in the upcoming 2016 elections. It is believed that Joseph Mensah sent the NPP to court only to frustrate and delay the NPP campaign in constituency.

Upon having a hint of Joseph Mensah's relationship with NDC elements and the availability of financial support for Joseph Mensah to divide NPP, Nana Addo has thereafter sent a delegation of party gurus to Kwesimintsim constituency to advise the party kingmakers and also to disown Joseph Mensah who has been using Nana Addo's name in his campaign.
