NDC descends heavily on Hopeson Adorye for 'insulting' people of Bono Region

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bono Region has descended heavily on the Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of Airport, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye for allegedly insulting the good people of the Region.

Hopeson Adorye who is a Communications team member of the NPP and Eric Adjei who is also the NDC Deputy Bono Regional Communications Officer nearly fought on UTV's late political news discussion Thursday, July 4, 2017.

In a video circulating on social media, Hopeson Adorye was heard alleging that former President John Mahama rented a private jet to travel outside Ghana but Eric Adjei denied that and called on Adorye to retract his claim and apologise to Ghanaians.

"See, when John Mahama was the President, I don't think he was sitting on bicycles to travel, I don't think so, I don't think that he was using some of our taxes to travel, I don't think so, he also chartered flights to travel", Hopeson Adorye replied.

But Eric Adjei said former President John Mahama never chartered flights and dared Hopeson Adorye to tell him when that happened.

"John Mahama never chartered flights, and I am saying it that President Mahama never chartered flights", Eric Adjei stated.

Eric Adjei also alleged that President Akufo-Addo had rented a private jet to travel outside Ghana; a flight worth 17,000 dollars per an hour.

"President Akufo-Addo chartered a flight and paid for 17,000 dollars just for one hour, why? what crime have Ghanaians done to Akufo-Addo, Hopeson Adorye must render an unqualified apology to Ghanaians", Eric Adjei claimed.

Hopeson Adorye, however, insisted that he can provide Eric Adjei with evidence (thus, dates).

"You stay in Bono so how can you know what I am saying", he told Eric Adjei.

He continued "Let me tell you if you don't take care I will deal with you and you can't continue with the show".

Hopeson Adorye later on the show accused the Host of being baised.

"...What kind of noise is this, you are not being fair to me, don't be biased, you are supporting NDC members... you are on TV and so what, if it is noise so we shouldn't say it, stop this", Adorye charged.

But in a statement issued and signed by the NDC Bono Regional Communications Officer, Charles Akowuah Tuffour and copied to the media, he castigated Hopeson Adorye for insulting Eric Adjei and the Region as a whole.

"A time where all efforts are made to see to the end of discrimination (social status, gender disparity, ethnicity, religion and one's origin) , the Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of Airport, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye is vociferously denigrating this concerted effort by the world with his excrescence pronouncement on UTV on Thursday, 4th July, 2019 at their late political news discussion", the statement read.

The statement added that "For the avoidance of doubt, there is a video in circulation on social media where he, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye was clearly captured on the program comfortably spewing these vexatious words on the person of the Deputy Regional Communications Officer of the NDC in Bono Region - Mr Eric Adjei and by extension to the people in the Region".

The statement claimed that "Hopeson in pride said "wo, wo te Bono no hwaa ?de?n na wo hunu? Ma y?n a y? w? krom no ?nkasa" (in inference, when those of us in the cities are talking, who are you in the remote Bono Region to rebut?)"

The statement said Brong Region now Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions have produced a lot of personalities and cannot be described as a remote area by Hopeson Adorye.

The statement emphasized that "The political history of Ghana can never be completed without the mention of Brong Ahafo Region. Brong Ahafo has nurtured great politicians, from the days of Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia (who hailed from Wenchi in the Bono Region) to the enviable position of Prime Minister of Ghana, Her Excellency Theresa Kufour (who hails from Odumasi in the Bono Region) was the former First Lady of Ghana from 2001 to 2009, Her Excellency Lordina Mahama, the Immediate past First Lady of Ghana (and hails from Nkoranza in the Bono East Region), the late stateman - Joseph Henry Mensah who also hailed from Odumasi in the Bono Region and became the Minority Leader of Ghana's Parliament from 1997 to 2001 and amogst others".

"How does this region (a region that has produced a Prime Minister and two First Ladies) be referred to as a remote region and be denigrated by Hopeson Adorye? His unfortunate words must be roundly condemned by all, especially his Party Executives in the Brong Ahafo Region (Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions)", the statement opined.

"We again call on the premium television station in Ghana, UTV to do due deligence on who comes on their platform in order not to belittle and tarnish their hard earned reputation built over the years", the statement said.

We therefore, will not allow Hopeson Adorye with his indecorous and infantile comments (which are his trademarks) to look down upon the region and hence demand a public retraction of his unwritten words on the same platform (UTV) and issue out an unqualified apology to the region as soon as possible in order not to incur the wrath of the region.

We again call on the premium television station in Ghana, UTV to do due deligence on who comes on their platform in order not to belittle and tarnish their hard earned reputation built over the years.

The people of Brong Ahafo Region (Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions) are proud of our region, our history and our culture and will never be defeated by any erroneous tag consciously attributed to the region by those who obviously lack our precious societal upbringing. We remain focused.
