The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Organiser, Mr. Kofi Adams has categorically indicated that the NDC 'Unity Walks' are neither organized or being sponsored by the former President, Mr. John Mahama as being claimed by Mr. Alban Bagbin.

Mr. Alban Bagbin who is the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament has alleged that Mr. John Mahama was the one sponsoring the NDC 'Unity Walk' across the country.

According to him, Mr. Mahama was sponsoring the NDC 'Unity Walks' to boost his chances of leading the party into the elections but indicated that he was confident the party delegates would reject him.

“Mr. Mahama has sponsored a number of walks branded as unity walk and here there are all indications that he is gearing up to run. So I would not be surprised if he comes up at the end of the day to clearly say he is running,” he emphasized.

Speaking to GhanaWeb, the Lawmaker for the good people of Nadowli Kaleo Constituency in the Upper West Region, Mr. Alban Bagbin declared his intention to contest for the presidential position in the NDC.

Former President John Mahama is yet to declare his intention to contest as the flag bearer for the party or do otherwise but reports available to GhanaWeb's news desk indicating that Mr. John Mahama will declare his intention to face the likes of Dr. Spio Garbrah, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Stephen Atubiga, Sylvester Mensah, Mr. Alban Bagbin among others in the NDC presidential primaries.

Mr Kofi Adams disclosed this to GhanaWeb after the party had its Function Executive Committee meeting on Friday, January 12, 2018 that NDC 'Unity Walks' are not being sponsored by Mr. Mahama.

"NDC Unity Walks have been discussed at FEC and me as National Organizer of NDC is tasked to work with the regions to ensure the success of this programme", Mr Adams disclosed.

Another information revealed to GhanaWeb's news desk by an insider also indicating that the NDC party is likely to organise a press conference to officially declare their stance on the appointment of Mr. Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor of this country in the coming weeks.
