Muntari didn’t want to be a burden to Milan – Agent

Sulley Muntari’s representative Federico Pestorello has revealed what could possibly be the reason for the termination of his contract with AC Milan.

In a frank interview with Milan Channel shortly after Tuesday’s announcement of a mutual agreement to end the club-player relationship, Pestorello said:

“He realised he wasn’t part of their plans.

“Sulley is very fond of Milan, Adriano Galliani and the whole club, but realised his time at Milan was over, so came to this decision.

“This morning Galliani again showed himself to be very sensitive. He was disappointed by the situation, but this is football.

“Muntari realised he wasn’t part of their plans and therefore didn’t want to be a burden to the club.

“What of the future? There’s nothing yet, just some contact with a few clubs. Sulley is an extraordinary guy.”

Milan reached an agreement with the Ghanaian footballer for the latter to leave the club with a year left on his contract.

The club confirmed the contract termination with a terse note on its website:

“AC Milan and Sulley Muntari have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract that tied the player to the club.

AC Milan would like to thank Muntari for his dedication and professionalism during his years at the club and wish him all the best for the future.”

A not too surprising turn of events, the suspended Black Stars player has not had a good time at the club in recent times.

Muntari made just 12 Serie A starts for the Rossoneri this season, his last appearance being March 7.

He joined Milan in the Summer of 2012 from rivals Inter. Previously, he played for Portsmouth and Sunderland, where he was on loan in 2011 for six months.

The abrogation of contract means Muntari wold have to look elsewhere as the European league season returns in some few weeks.
