This year's Malaria Control and Awareness Programme in the Bole District has been launched at Bamboi. The month-long programme is to raise the awareness of the people to the prevention, control and cure of malaria in the district.

The District Co-ordinating Director of Administration who launched the programme urged the people to support the government's efforts to curb the hazards of malaria by keeping their surrounding clean.

At a public educational forum held at Kalba near Bole, the District Health Services Administrator, Mr Alfred Manu Sarpong, noted that in 1992, 4,953 out of 15, 895 cases reported at various health centres in the Bole District were malaria cases. In 1993, there were 6,486 cases of malaria out of the 20,736 illnesses reported to the health centres while in 1994 5,965 of the total number of 19,126 were malaria cases.
