Mahama's address did not give hope to Ghanaians - Dr. Apraku

Dr. Konadu Apraku has said that the President's State of the Nation address does not in anyway give hope to Ghanaians.

"If I was looking back and I was a young man, is this a government that I can place my faith in that they can deliver to provide a standard of living that I aspire to? I did not find that in this speech that he presented."

President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday delivered his first State of the Nation address to Parliament where he pledged to deliver on all sectors of the country ranging from education, health, energy and the economy.

However, speaking to Citi News after the President's delivery, Dr. Apraku lamented that the President did not address the pertinent issues affecting the general public.

"If you ask the ordinary Ghanaian today; 'you listened to the President; did he address the issues of concern and do you feel the issues of concern and something will be done about them immediately in the short term or in the long term; do you see relief?' I think most people will say that perhaps not."

He mentioned that the issues of concern to Ghanaians on the economy include "the issue of high interest rate, the issue of high unemployment, the issue of high cost of living and then you can look into the sectors and look at the water, the energy and the agricultural sector."

According to Dr. Apraku, these are the critical issues "that everybody worries about when they wake up in the morning."
