Lawyer Musah Ahmed hails Justice Anin Yeboah's appointment

One of Ghana’s renowned legal practitioners, Lawyer Musah Ahmed, has congratulated President Akufo-Addo for the nomination of Justice Anin Yeboah as the Chief Justice of the republic.

The lawyer, who has been on the field of law for over twenty years noted that justice Yeboah is competent and well-known when it comes to justice.

Speaking in an interview with this paper, Lawyer Ahmed hinted that Justice Yeboah is a professional who cannot be tagged of any corruption act.

“I have been on the field for years and this is my opinion, is not coming from anybody, the nomination of Justice Anin Yeboah as chief justice is a best decision by President Akufo Addo” he disclosed.

Justice Anim Yeboah, Lawyer Ahmed added, is a person of high moral character, saying that President Akufo-Addo ought to be applauded for such a wonderful decision.

He noted that Anas expose has affected the image of the country’s legal system and was optimistic the appointment of Anin Yeboah would bring back their lost image.

Justice Yeboah he also said is a person with proving record and high moral character, adding that he (Justice Anin Yeboah) is competent to contribute in minimizing corruption across the country.

President Akufo-Addo last week nominated Justice Anin-Yeboah as Chief Justice subject to Parliamentary approval.

If approved, Justice Anin-Yeboah, who is the fourth longest-serving Justice of the Supreme Court, will succeed Justice Sophia Abena Boafoa Akuffo, who retires on December 20, 2019.

President Justice Anin-Yeboah, a well-seasoned law enforcer, was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President John Agyekum Kuffuor in June 2008.

He has also served as a Justice of the High Court, and a Justice of the Court of Appeal.

In addition, he is a part-time lecturer in Civil Procedure and the Ghana Legal System at the Ghana School of Law.

Prior to that, he had served as a Justice of the High Court from 2002 to 2003 and a Justice of the Court of Appeal from 2003 to 2008.

Apart from being a Supreme Court Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah is also a part-time lecturer in Civil Procedure and the Ghana Legal System at the Ghana School of Law.

Justice Anin Yeboah’s name is also associated with football. In May 2017, he was appointed the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).

He also served as the Chairman of the Appeal’s Committee of the Ghana Football Association from 2004 to 2008.
