Late President Mills Deserves Better

STATEMENT OF THE MENSAH SARBAH HALL JCR UNIVERSITY OF GHANA ON THE EXACT LOCATION OF WHERE LATE PRESIDENT E.A MILLS SHOULD BE BURIED.

In solemn declaration and affirmation of our unrelenting desire as Vikings and Okpo-mates to contribute to issues of National concern, we in most vehement terms disagree with the modus Vivendi of burying late President Professor Evans Atta Mills at the Jubilee House.
The Jubilee House as the administrative quarters of the President is not a suitable place to bury a distinguished personality who has served our dear Nation on a platter of pure passion and also demonstrated a life worth emulating and celebrating for generations to come.
Okpo- mates are of the humble opinion that the Jubilee house is not a public place but a restricted area where no Ghanaian can have the luxury of walking feely to the grave yard to pay respect to our former President. Furthermore, burying President Mills at the Jubilee House even restricts his wife, son and other relatives from paying visits to their most loved relation when they need to in some years to come.
The Mensah Sarbah JCR prays this history making demise of Professor Mills should not be eroded easily from the history of our Motherland. We Okpo-mates in Unity and Solidarity propose that a special site should be selected in Accra or the Central Region for His burial. The selected site should have a library where all his works should be preserved to enhance research for future generations. Also his history, Presidential life and his principles should also be preserved along side.
We believe that if this is done, the legend of Prof. Mills still lives on and this is the best we can do for our Father, Brother, Husband and Son Prof. Mills. This is the best our TEACHER deserves. The site in some years to come will serve as a tourist attraction and eventually generate revenue for the Nation. The JCR therefore appeals to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Bereaved Family of Prof. Mills and the Funeral Planning Committee to reconsider their decision so as to write the History of Prof. Mills in the right indelible chalk.
May the soul of the late President Rest in Perfect and Perpetual Peace.
Thank you.
