Larbi Koomson is back for Kotoko

Midfielder Larbi Koomson has returned to full scale training at Asante Kotoko having recovered from a lengthy injury layoff.

The 25-year-old required surgery after damaging his arterial cruciate ligament while in training last year.

Koomson has had to battle a strenuous rehabilitation to build up his fitness since undergoing successful surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The injury ruled out the former Medeama man entirely out of the 2014/15 season.

He however made a triumphant return to first team duties with Kotoko on Tuesday.

Team doctor Kwaku Boateng-Arthur is delighted with the progress made by the midfielder.

“He’s been training with his colleagues,” he said.

“He’s undergone the rehab. He’s been jogging in addition to doing ball work.

“That’s active work and it’s encouraging.”

Koomson’s return will be a good addition to the Porcupine Warriors who have also made signings to re-enforce the side.

Kotoko are eager to wrestle back the Premier League title they lost to regional rivals AshantiGold in the coming season.
