LPG shortage in Accra to be resolved by Friday

The shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in parts of Accra will continue through to the weekend. This is according to the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) who are in charge of distributing the product onto the market.

Parts of the capital including Dansoman, Kwashiman, parts of Abelemkpe, Tesano among other areas have experienced shortages since last week. The OMCs explained the situation is as a result of distribution challenges.

Chairman for the Oil Marketing Companies Yaw Agyeman Duah told Citi Business News, service stations are likely to be supplied by this Friday.

“We have LPG in the system but the issue is that distribution is our main challenge. We have just one distribution point that all the trucks go to load from which is unlike petrol and diesel where you can pick up your load.

"Currently we have 5,900 metric tons in circulation so give or take by Friday people will be supplied”, he said.

He further added that his outfit is doing its best to curtail the frequent shortage of LPG in the country.**
