Kufuor Back from Abuja

Accra, Nov. 9, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor returned to Accra on Wednesday from Abuja, Nigeria, after a day's meeting with the Nigerian Leader President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The Foreign Minister, Nana Addpo Dankwa Akufo-Addo accompanied him. Mr Kwabena Agyapong, Presidential Press Secretary, told journalists that Nigeria promised to increase its oil supply to Ghana.

The two Leaders also agreed that there was a need for countries in the West Africa Sub-Region to step up local rice and poultry production. According to Mr Agyapong President Obasanjo said his country would not shut the door to products from Ghana and added that the trade ministers of the two countries would meet to discuss ways of facilitating trade between them.

On political issues the two leaders discussed the transitional programme in Cote d'Ivoire as well as the Liberian election. President Kufuor also consoled the Nigerian Leader on the death of his wife Stella as well as the recent Bellview plane crash in that country.

President leaves for Abuja

Accra, Nov. 9, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Wednesday, for Abuja, Nigeria to hold a day's consultation with the Nigerian Leader Olusegun Obasanjo.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, Foreign Minister; Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the Executive Secretary of ECOWAS as well as some officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accompanied him.
Mr Kwabena Agyapong, Presidential Press Secretary, told journalists that they would discuss trade, oil supply as well as peace and security in the West Africa Sub-Region.
The President would also console the Nigerian Leader on the death of his wife, Stella.
