Kotoko goalkeeper Isaac Amoako to undergo surgery

Long serving goalie, Isaac Amoako is expected to undergo an arthroscopic knee surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Asantekotokosc.com understands.

An arthroscopic surgery is basically a “minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which an examination and sometimes treatment of damage is performed using an arthroscope, an endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision”.

Amoako suffered the knee injury in September while training. A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) report revealed a “complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee”.

The goalie who is in his 9th year at Kotoko was not too active in the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League. However in the few matches that he was fielded, he proved useful given his huge experience in the post.

Amoako’s injury, the third in one year, first showed its ugly face in the FA Cup match against King Faisal in June 2014. It recurred in August the same year thereby ruling him out of the club’s pre-season programme undertaken by former Coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani.

He recovered and kept the post three times in the first round of the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League only to sustained the same injury when he landed awkwardly in an activity during training session.
