Undefeated Ghanaian boxer Bastir Samir believes that his highly anticipated bout against Bukom Banku on the 30th of September is an opportunity for him to prove to Ghanaians why he is the answer to the question “Who is the next Azumah Nelson?”.

Bastie Samir and Bukom Banku both signed a contract on Friday, 30th June to mount the ring on September 30 in what is expected to be the biggest fight staged in 2017 and Bastie is confident of defeating his foe.

Speaking to pressmen at the contract signing event held at the Bukom Boxing Arena, the 14 KO Boxer thanked the promoter of the bout, Alex Ntiamoah for making his dreams of fighting Bukom Banku come true and assured his fans that he will defeat Banku.

Samir who threw the challenge to Bukom Banku three years ago is of the view that the bout is one for the teeming boxing fans and assured them that he will put up a performance comparable to the legendary Azumah Nelson.

“I’m very happy that this fight is finally coming on because the fans have been talking about it for quite a long time. Bukom Banku is bragging that he will stop me in round six but when the time comes everyone will see how I will stop him”.

“I have done it before and am really prepared for this fight. Ghanaians haven’t seen a lot from me but on that day I will prove to everyone that there is someone around who can be like Azumah Nelson", the calm looking Samir said.

The bout between the two boxers is one that is expected to be bigger than Banku’s bout with Ayittey Powers.

Both boxers are undefeated with Samir having an impressive record of 29-0, 22 KO’s to Bukom Banku and Bastie Samir 15-0-1, 14 KO’s.

Bukom Banku’s last fight was December 2015 when he stopped his old foe Ayitey Powers in round 8 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, while, Samir recorded a unanimous decision over Sijuola Ade Shabazz last September in USA.
