I am ready to reconcile with Addison – Nii Noi Nortey

New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate elect for the Korle Klottey constituency- Nii Noi Nortey- has said he is ready to sit down with lawyer Philip Addison to trash out their difference in order to form a formidable force to reclaim the parliamentary seat of the area from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“We are more than happy to meet you and sit and deliberate over everything that you feel went wrong. I am always opened and you are a senior brother to me so I would like to learn a lot from you as well,” he said in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

He made this observation when the two were simultaneously interviewed by Banson on the same program Monday.

Mr. Addison had on the program cautioned that he together with his supporters can only go ahead to support Nii Noi Nortey when certain conditions are met.

According to him, there are so many outstanding issues that have not been resolved, especially, those bothering on the candidacy himself and until those issues are addressed, it would be very difficult for them to join Mr. Nortey’s campaign trail.

“There are so many outstanding issues that we have to come to terms with. It will be very difficult going forward to sweep everything under the carpet. I mean we can’t do that. So until those things are addressed, we can’t join his campaign.”

“Those matters are so fundamental to an election. These are the things that the party has stood against. How are we going to campaign when we are confronted with some of these issues – what are we going to say? When on the campaign trail we are being confronted with some of these issues by our opponents what will be our answer?” he quizzed.

He said a lot of people in the constituency are not happy about the development in the party and urged the leadership of the elephant family to tackle immediately those issues before going into election 2016.

He was, however, not specific on the issues that needed to be addressed except to say they are very fundamentals that the party has stood against as far elections in the country are concerned.

“I am telling you that a lot of our supporters and delegates are not happy. These are the people that are also going to help to campaign and if they are not happy, how do they push forward an agenda that it is …That is the big problem that we are going to face.”

Mr. Addison nonetheless said his ultimate wish is for the party to win power from the under performing ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and so his doors are always opened for a truce.

He told Banson that Sunday’s election was skewed towards a particular candidate where the result wahttp://www.kasapafmonline.com/wp-admin/post-new.phps predetermined and, therefore, felt the not to contest at all.

“I boycotted the election basically because there was no level playing field and so thought it was in our interest to not take part in an already determined election because the results had already been predetermined given the way everything had gone. We were not at all involved in the processes leading to the election.”

Mr. Addison polled 22 out of the 434 total valid votes cast in Sunday’s election that saw his main competitor, Nii Noi Nortey winning by a wider margin of 393 votes.

A third candidate, Nii Adjei Tawiah polled 19 votes.

About 368 delegates did not vote in the election that was characterized by violence.

Mr. Nortey commenting further said the concerns raised by Mr. Addison ought to be heard and that he is more than prepared to meet him and reconcile their differences.
