How Ghanaian players abroad fared over the weekend

Ghana vice-captain Andre Ayew superbly announced his presence in the English Premier League after the international break scoring a goal and winning a penalty for his Swansea City against AFC Bournemouth.

Swansea City were down by two goals when Andre Ayew pulled one back before wining a penalty for Jonjo Shelvey scored to end the game at 2-2.

Andre Ayew played in the full duration of the game. Christian Atsu who plays on loan at AFC Bournemouth did not feature in the game due to injury.

Abdul Baba Rahman was not named in the Chelsea squad that played Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the English Premier League. Chelsea won by a goal to nil in the fixture.

Jordan Ayew and his Aston Villa side were downed by a whopping four goals without reply when they visited Everton. The Ghanaian forward played the full game for Everton.

Jeffrey Schlupp was named on the Leicester City bench as their 3-0 away victory against Newcastle United sent them top of the English Premier League.

In the Italian Serie A, Kwadwo Asamoah missed Juventus’ 1-0 home victory against AC Milan due to injury.

Godfred Donsah started Bologna’s game against Roma and played 70 minutes as his home side held their guests with a 2-2 draw.

friyie Acquah played the full game for Torino as they won their away game in the Serie A by 1-0 against Atalanta.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu scored the only goal of Udinese’s game against Sampdoria, handing his side all three points at home with the 1-0 win. Alfred Duncan played 62 minutes for Sassuolo as they were beaten on the road by two goals to one against Genoa.

Wakaso Mubarak missed Las Palmas 1-1 draw against Valencia in the Spanish La Liga. The Ghanaian was not named in the match day squad.

Inaki Williams played 80 minutes in the Spanish La Liga for Athletic Bilbao as they lost by two goals without reply on the road to Granada.

Abdul Majeed Waris is serving his game ban in the French Ligue 1 and did not play a part in FC Lorient’s 2-1 loss at home to Paris Saint Germain. In Denmark, Daniel Amartey played the full duration when FC Koebenhavn entertained Viborg. The game ended in a goalless draw.

In Switzerland, Ebenezer Assifuah played 68 minutes for Sion in their 1-1 away draw to Young Boys.

Harrison Afful played was involved in the Major League Soccer as his Columbus Crew side won by two goals to nil against New York Red Bulls. Afful who started the game was substituted with a minute to the end of regulation time.

Lloyd Sam also played 86 minutes for New York Red Bulls in the defeat against Afful’s Columbus Crew.

Adam Kwarasey was in post when his Portland Timbers side won their MLS game against FC Dallas. Kwarasey could not keep a clean sheet but his Timbers side won by three goals to one.

Sulley Muntari and his Al Ittihad side lost at home by two goals to nil in the Saudi derby against Al Ahli. The Ghanaian played the full game on Sunday.
