The Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the Presidency, Dr. Tony Aidoo has praised the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC) for the courage he showed at the final IEA presidential debate held Wednesday night.
According to him, though Mr. Ayariga was unwell, he was able to show up at the debate to display his prowess.
Hassan Ayariga had initially indicated that he was pulling out of the debate because he was down with malaria but suddenly made a u-turn after members of his party prevailed upon him.
During the debate on Wednesday, the PNC flagbearer, was struck with uncontrollable coughs intermittently, which some analysts including the opposition NPP believe were not genuine.
The NPP has since accused him of being hired by the NDC to distract its flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo at the debate.
To the NPP, Ayariga only coughs when its flagbearer was making his submissions making them believe that it was very deliberate and distractive.
But, speaking on Asempa Fm’s Ekosii-Sen on Thursday, Dr. Tony Aidoo described Hassan Ayariga as the most courageous of all the candidates.
“Hassan Ayariga was the most courageous of the candidates. Though he was suffering from flu and coughing intermittently, he was able to come. After all the hullabaloos of whether he will come or not, he represented so his courage for me is commendable”.
He asserted that Hassan Ayariga treated Ghanaians with respectable candor because he did not come to tell lies like others did.
Dr. Tony Aidoo described the appearance and demeanour of the PNC flagbearer as fantastic though President Mahama was his usual self as a good debater. “Hassan Ayariga showed us all that he is courageous, serious and did well though he was medically indisposed”.
