Gov't Donates To North Tongu Flood Victims

Mafi-Dedukope(V/R), June 23, --Mr. Austin Gamey, Deputy Minister of Employment and Social Welfare has observed that as long as the nation experiences population explosion people would continue to struggle for a place to lay their heads. Mr. Gamey made the observation when he presented relief items worth over three million cedis to flood victims of five communities in the North Tongu district. The items which included blankets, second-hand clothing, rice, sugar and gari were donated to Maafi-Dedukope, Kpeyibor, Luta, Dudevi and Memordzi. Mr. Gamey said Ghanaians should stop the practice of putting up structures indiscriminately, and ensure that their townships have good lay-outs. The deputy minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for North Tongu pointed out that apart from helping to prolong the life span of buildings, proper planning would enable them to withstand disasters.
