Ghana Supply Company partners TAB-Forest Mines

The Ghana Supply Company is partnering TAB-Forest Mines Limited, a local mining entity in Ghana to develop a 67 acre land acquired at Kakebil in Takoradi into an all purpose total logistic centre.

The project which has already begun with the clearing of the land is projected at a cost of US$150 million of which the Ghana Supply Company is offering the said acre of land as collateral for the project.

TAB-Forest Mines however will make the funds available for the project.

Speaking to journalists at a press briefing, Dr. Joseph Manboah-Rockson the Acting Managing Director of Ghana Supply Company said, the deal is to enable Ghana Supply Company to consummate its relationship with TAB-Forest Mines so as to establish the logistic centre for the emerging oil and gas industry.

He said, the Government of Ghana through the Ghana Supply Company will be giving lots of guarantees to TAB-Forest Mines including clearing, logistics among others to enable it carry out successful construction of the centre.

Dr. Joseph Manboah-Rockson also averred that by entering into such partnership with TAB-Forest Mines, his entity is meeting the demand for local content and the creation of employment for indigenous Ghanaians in the industry.

On his part, Albert Kwabena Tabiri, Chief Executive Officer of TAB-Forest Mines Limited, said with oil find in commercial quantities in Ghana, Takoradi has become an investment hub and destination in West Africa attracting millions of investors and it is in tune to take advantage of the enormous investment potentials that abound in the area hence the construction of the all purpose total logistic centre.

He pointed out that, preparatory works have begun in earnest and appealed to the Ministry of Finance to give its full support for the quick start and facilitation of the project.

The All Purpose Total Logistic Centre.

The all purpose total logistic centre which MoU was signed between the Ghana Supply Company, TAB-Forest Mines Limited and its foreign investors as well as its Consortium, will be a 5 Star Hotel with a warehouse, facilities for heavy equipments, parking lots, 18 Gulf courts, helipad, clinic, shopping mall, offices, garages, lubrication bay, tyre service centre among other amazing service areas.

According to Dr. Joseph Manboah-Rockson he project will begin with the construction of an open warehouse office space after which the major work will start.

Togbe Hotormaho Amedzake III, General Manager of the TAB Project hinted that although the Ghana Supply Company had entered into such a partnership with TAB-Forest Mines Limited, under a PPP arrangement, both parties are yet to meet to discuss whether the project should pass for a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) or a Joint Venture.

He however explained that either way that it may go, both parties have the opportunity to derive enormous benefit from the project.

Meanwhile, Dr. Joseph Manboah-Rockson explained that even if it would be on a BOT arrangement, both parties are considering giving it a 35 years period after which the project will be handed over to Ghana Supply Company.

He was quick to add that, with that Ghana Supply Company will also be receiving 20% of the annual proceed every year for the 35 years before finally taking over the facility.
