In its quest to maintain its leadership as the best port in the West and Central Africa sub-region, the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA) has secured drones to counter terrorist attacks.

The corporate, Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of the GPHA, Paul Asare Ansah told Starr business that GPHA is implementing a world class security system that will combat terrorist and pirate activities as part of new initiatives to protect the ports.

“The drones will be flying over the ports," Mr. Asare said adding "we are even getting more powerful drones that would fly to the anchor range where any potential terrorist moves will be originate from [would be seen].”

Mr. Asare assured that adequate security measures have been put in place to deal with the issue of stow-away and armed robbery as well.

“With the enhanced security systems like CCTV Cameras, Jade master terminal and we are even adding surveillance with drones in the air…there is no way anybody can beat the system to go and stow away,” Mr Asare said.
