More than 45 students of the Agogo State College in the Asante Akyem North District of the Ashanti Region have been displaced after fire razed one of the dormitories at the school.

The fire started at about 8:00PM on Friday, January 12, when students were at prep and destroyed textbooks, chop boxes, trunks and other items.

The students who saw smoke emanating from one of the dormitories raised and alarm teachers rushed to the scene in an attempt to stop the spread of the fire.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were also invited and they managed to douse the fire.

The affected students are currently sharing space with their mates and the headmaster of the school, Agyapong Ntra, is appealing for relief items.

The Member of Parliament for the area, District Chief Executive (CEO) and officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have visited the school to access the impact of the fire incident.
