A 65-year-old cutlass wielding farmer, who destroyed a bamboo fence belonging to his neighbor, Kwabena Nyako, has been given year’s prison term in hard labour, by a Circuit Court at Akim Swedru.

The presiding judge, Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong, found Asuo Afram guilty of causing damage and ordered him to pay GH¢1,000 to compensate Abusuapanin Kwabena Nyarko.

Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah said Abusuapanin Nyarko acquired a stretch of land out-skirt Asuboa North near Akim Manso in the Eastern Region from the stool elders.

Inspector Appiah said the Abusuapanin constructed a building on part of the land, while he cultivated food crop on the other part and fenced it with bamboo sticks and nets, estimated at GH¢1,000.

He said Afram also later acquired a land near that of the Abusuapanin from the stool elders and two months later, he went onto the land armed with cutlass and without provocation, destroyed the fence of Abusuapanin Nyarko.
