Fifa has denied that it has released a seeding system for Africa's 2018 World Cup draw to be held later this month amid claims Ghana has been seeded to be placed in Pot 1.

Widespread news in Ghana claims the Black Stars have already been seeded in Pot 1 for the qualifiers which means the team will avoid the toughest sides.

Even though the Black Stars are expected to be seeded and placed in Pot 1 thanks to their excellent FIFA ranking and good record in the qualifiers, the seeding system has not been released, a top FIFA official has told Ghanasoccernet.com.

The seeding system will be confirmed later this week when FIFA releases the seeds for the group stage qualifiers.

Ghana are expected to be placed in Pot 1 along with Algeria, Egypt, Ivory Coast and Senegal.

The 20 teams will be drawn into five groups‚ each containing four sides‚ with only the pool winner advancing to the World Cup in two years’ time.
