Ex-Police Officer Ejected From House

A police task force led by the district superintendent of police, Mr. Kwasi Zu, of the Abor division in the Volta region, last weekend ejected Mr. Pius Mensah Bodohu, a 76-year-old retired police chief inspector from his low cost residence at Akatsi for illegally occupying it since the past 16 years. The house, according to documents made available to GRi, was first allocated to one Richard Amoako of the Ghana police service at Abor by the Ketu district administration on rental basis but before he could occupy it he died. It was later re-allocated to Mr. Badohu for his personal occupation upon application in 1978 before he was retired in 1981. When GNA contacted DSP Zu on the issue, he said the tenancy agreement had been ratified by the Akatsi district administration and the house was re-allocated to the Ghana police service as a duty-post bungalow. He, however, declined to comment on who was paying the rent from the time it was re-allocated to his outfit saying that Mr. Badohu used his position as the station officer by then to occupy the house. Mr. Badohu said the house ''was officially allocated to me for my personal use.''
