EU Spends 330mC In Jomoro

Half-Assini (W/R) The European Union (EU) is spending 330 million cedis under its micro-projects programme in the Jomoro District this year. The projects, include the provision of good drinking water, health facilities and educational structures. Mr. Ernest Beyelah, District Chief Executive for Jomoro, announced this at the first meeting of the second session of the Jomoro District Assembly at Half-Assini. He said the Jomoro District Assembly will contribute about 90 million cedis towards the projects while the beneficiary communities

would provide communal labour. He named the beneficiary communities as Newtown, Mpim, Nawulley, Ankasa, Compound, Mpataba, Tikobo Number Two, Fante Newtown, Anwiafutu, Nyame Bekyere and Anwiafutu Junction.

Mr. Beyelah said the district was considered in the core programme because of its good performance in the Limited Intervention Programme of the EU. He said the assembly has built a three-classroom block each at Adusuazo, Ellenda, Anlomatuape, while those at Ankasa and Amokwasuazo, are also at the roofing level. The assembly contributed 21.4 million cedis to provide toilet at Ezinlibo, Allowuley, Elloyin, Ahobre and Nuba under the assembly's communal labour projects, he said. The assembly also gave financial and material assistance to community initiated projects spread all over the district.
