Political Scientist at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr Amoako Baah, has said no National Democratic Congress (NDC) party member must be scared to challenge President John Mahama in the party’s imminent Presidential election.

The party after its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday, set November 7 for its Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Political watchers are anxiously waiting to see if the President will be contested for the Presidential slot of the party.

Deputy General Secretary Koku Anyidoho has said common sense should stop anyone from contesting President Mahama, claiming such persons will be hugely humiliated during the elections.

But in an interview on Kasapa FM on Friday, Dr Amoako Baah condemned any comments that have the potential of discouraging prospective candidates from giving the President a run for his money at the polls.

He said any interested party member with Presidential ambition must be bold enough to enter the race and not fear the backlash.

“Even if the person’s interest is in the 2020 elections, it would be good for him/her to make a statement now by contesting the President. Once the person steps onto the scene he/she becomes popular and the person’s chances in future elections is enhanced. Also by that challenged the President will up his game knowing he didn’t have his position on a silver platter”.
