Directory on Advanced Training Opportunities In Africa Launched

The European Commission today launched the first edition of a directory on advanced training opportunities in the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries. The Directory, which was launched by the Minister for Education, Dr.. Christina Amoako Nuama, in Accra serves as a means of fostering South-South Cooperation in the field of human resource development. It is also meant to aid officials making decisions about scholarships to identify institutions in the South and steer ACP students to these institutions. Dr.. Amoako Nuama said the use of the directory will increase high level training accessibility to a greater number of students in ACP member-states and may even cut down on brain drain into the industrialised countries. The Acting Head of the EC Delegation to Ghana, Mr.. Jaime Diez Conseco, said the Commission will ensure that EU fellowship recipients study in ACP institutions instead of Europe.
