Butcher threatens to butcher wife, granted bail

Kumasi, March 31, GNA-A 40 year old butcher, who allegedly threatened to butcher his wife on several occasions has been granted a GH¢10,000 bail by a Kumasi Circuit Court. Yussif Nartey is said to have constantly threatened to slash the wife on the least provocation but he denied the offence.

He would reappear on Wednesday, April, 15, this year. Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Nana Amofa told the Court, presided over by Mr. Eric Baah, that Nartey had been married to the complainant Andrea Bugri for some years and they have four children. The accused and the family live in the same house at Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya District. He said the relationship between the couple had suddenly turned sour and Nartey had for a number of times asked the wife to leave his house.

Accused, who has another wife, on February 18 this year again asked his wife to choose between leaving the house and being cut into pieces. With some trepidation, Andrea left and sought refuge in a nearby house, whilst her 15 year old son made a report to the Barekese police. Nartey was arrested and after preliminary investigations, he was arraigned.
