Are NPP idiots to bother about 'any idiot can go to court' phrase? – Gen. Mosquito

General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has questioned the rationale behind the incessant attacks on him by some members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for his infamous statement, “any idiot can go to court”.

According to Mr. Asiedu Nketia, the statement he made was not in reference to the NPP and wondered why the party is bothered and quick to react to it.

Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia had stated on Asempa FM a few weeks ago that “any idiot can go to court in a democracy so the NDC is not bothered at all.” He was responding to a question on his take on the NPP's decision to go to court over the just ended elections.

But some members of the NPP did not take his statement lightly with the conviction that Mr Asiedu Nketia was referring to them as the "idiots", and demanded an immediate retraction.

However, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii-Sen on Friday, the NDC scribe remarked:

“I don’t know why the NPP members and leadership have reacted strongly to my statements. When I said it, I didn’t mention their names so why are they quick to respond to it. Have they assessed themselves and seen that they are idiots?" he retorted.

He asserted that the NPP’s position on the statement shows that the party has problem with logic.

The NDC scribe, affectionately called General Mosquito, maintained: "I have never insulted people who go to court. What I mean is that anybody can go to court but it is up to the judge to determine whether what the person brought is reasonable or not. It also means that people who file suit at the court include wise and idiot people and it is up to the judge to expose the idiocy of the idiot. The fact that one goes to court does not mean that he or she is an idiot”.

He stressed that the fact that he made the statement “any idiot can go to court” doesn’t mean the NDC is idiot by joining the NPP's petition.
