The Aliu Mahama Foundation has set out to establish an electronic library in the Northern Region to honor the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama.

The Foundation on Thursday organised an event to raise funds for the project as they marked 5-years of the former Vice President’s death.

Speaking at the event, Executive Director for the Foundation, Dr Samuel K. Frimpong described Alhaji Mahama as a role model whose virtues should not be allowed to die with him.

“This foundation is continuing the legacy that he has left behind. We believe that such a great man should not die with the legacy that he had, he should not die with the virtues that he lived to… because he believed that the only way that this nation will grow is when we are all disciplined,” he said.

Dr Frimpong said the e-library will help the younger generation aspire for greatness.

“We believe that the e-library will be able to help the younger ones in the Northern region to have easy access to electronic books”.

The foundation is also setting up an educational fund to support SHS graduates from the three northern regions further their education to the tertiary level.

Pictures of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama from various stages in his life, including his time as Vice President of the country were auctioned to raise funds for the e-library.

Leading members from both the NPP and NDC including Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu were in attendance.

The Aliu Mahama Foundation, formerly called the Life care foundation was founded on 10th April, 2002 by Alhaji Aliu Mahama, former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana from 2001 to 2008 and was legally registered with the registrar general department as a Non-Governmental Organization.
