2012 Farmers’ Day celebration moved to November 2

This year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration has been shifted forward to Friday 2nd November instead of the regular first Friday of December every year.

This is because December 7 - the first Friday of the last month of this year – has been designated for the presidential and parliamentary elections.

In view of this, government has announced the change in date of the National Farmers’ Day for 2012.

This was made known by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Kwesi Ahwoi, at the handing over ceremony of a three-bedroom house to the 2010 National Best Farmer, Benjamin Adjei Adjetey at Oyibi.

At the ceremony, however, Mr. Ahwoi pledged government’s commitment to support farmers as it seeks to boost food security and production in the country.

He added that government will implement new strategies aimed at improving the lives of farmers in the country.**
